2) On Identity which is beyond Religion
Marc Gafni often discussed the kabbalistic idea, that the vessels which hold the light are ontologically prior and more pure then the light itself. In the language of Habad Hasidism, “Greater is the source of the vessels then the source of the light”. This counter intuitive and even anarchic idea alludes to a notion of identify which transcends content. In this teaching we refer to identity in the most profound and large sense, rather then in it’s more usual, superficial and shallow sense.
