Marc Gafni, Hate Blogs and Anti Semitic Websites:

The major website that attacks Marc Gafni is the Awareness Center, and the blog Jewish Survivors of Sexual Abuse, run by Vicki Polin. Polin engages in what is sadly the most vile and malicious form of lying. The material she posts about Marc Gafni is either completely made up or distorted beyond all recognition. The best analogy in the web world to Vicki Polin’s site is a neo-Nazi, or skinhead website. Not surprisingly, neo-Nazi sites often link their websites to Polin’s website.

To cite but one example, on the Oprah Winfrey show Polin made the libelous claim about the Jewish community that there is a nationwide Jewish cult, which kills and sacrifices their babies. She further claimed that she and her parents were part of this cult, and finally, that she herself had sacrificed a baby. We hope it is unnecessary to state that this is categorically false; there is no such cult in the Jewish community.

In a similar vein this website and others related to it have posted scores of simply fabricated claims about Marc Gafni. These claims include the suggestions that he changed his name in order to somehow hide his identity, when in fact the truth is that he hebraicized his name as thousands of others do, when he moved to Israel and his books on the authors page clearly say this and list both his english and hebrew name.

These websites have also suggested that Marc has changed his name to Marc Israel, that he jointed the sadomasochistic bondage world of Salt Lake City, that he has remarried under the name Marc Israel, that he is attracted to pre-pubescent boys, that he is a danger to “women and young children” etc. These websites regularly deploy terms like “confessed rapist”, “confessed child molestor” and the like. The only place that has every employed such vile untruth in pursuit of their goals to the best of our knowledge are neo nazi anti semitic websites.

One wonders, as the Jewish people have for nearly two thousand years, how to respond to this level of vicious invective. To say “it is not true” is so beyond obvious, that is is to give it to much attention and credibility.

When the hate blogs of the middle ages accused the Jewish Rabbis of all manner of sexual violation, demonizing Jews as the Devil {See Yale University Press, Joshua Trachtenberg, The Devil and the Jews} one is not sure wether to laugh or to cry. If the consequences of such libel were not extreme suffering for the Jewish people one might be tempted merely to laugh. However words have impact and verbal violence all to often led to physical violence of the most extreme forms.

While thankfully we are not in the middle ages and physical violence does not threaten us in the United States in that manner, one cannot be but sickened by the analogy between the current hate blogs and the hate blogs of yesteryear. Not surprisingly many of the worst anti-semitic hate website link there sites to Vicki Polin’s sites.

Are the hate blogs aware that they are engaged in a terrible slander of extreme and vicious nature or do they actually believe their posts we do not know.

Stories posted on on the various websites controlled by Vicki Polin and her associates are not true. Vicki Polin has no personal relationship with Marc Gafni. She has never interacted with him in any manner. She is, however, closely associated with persons who have been engaged in a nearly twenty-five-year attempt to undermine Marc Gafni. They are not credible sources of information.
