The word in the Biblical myth text for intimate is devekut, cleaving, which is also the Hebrew word for glue. Devekut is Intimate Communion. For the Kabbalists the word devekut is virtually synonymous with love.

What the biblical myth is saying, then, is that if you do not leave your father and mother you cannot be a lover.

Quite simply because love is a perception. It requires you to see the other person. If the other person remains invisible to you because you are unconsciously using them to complete unfinished business with parents, then there is no perception and naturally no love.
