Love is perception. Isaac cannot see — his perception is blurred. We can do many things in life with our love faculty of perception impaired. We can build a business, partner with a reasonable degree of success and navigate much of life successfully.

But we cannot give blessing to our children. To love our children is to perceive their soul prints, to see them in their unique and infinite beauty, not as our redeemers but as our sacred trust. We cannot love them unless we are willing to go back and cry our tears of angels.

It is not only about children however. Kabbalist Hayim Tchernovitch writes that, “In the spiritual psyche of the universe, all that emerges from our deep creativity is our child.”

You can do a job competently enough, even without searching in the muck for the keys of your life. To respond to your vocation can only be done in love. You can only access the flow of love needed to create if you cry the tears of angels. These are the tears of unlived pain that deeply, even if invisibly, block your vision and warp your love.

Isaac in the white spaces — the spaces between the letters of chapter 27 — is able to cry those tears. He winds up blessing both of his children — each one with the blessing appropriate to their soul print. Yet Isaac waited a long time to move through his void and cry his tears. A dynamic of deception was set into play. Brother deceived brother. Rage and hurt entered the conversation. It can take generations to undo the damage.

So if you are a reader and you want to be a lover, don’t wait to unblock your perception and access the full power of your love. Take the first step towards healing —and you know what the first step is. Take it today. And if you are at a later stage of life — you have reached old age — know that it is not too late.

Like Isaac, you can fix the pain of the past and cleanse your soul. It will give you the power of blessing both for yourself and all those close to you. I promise!
